I have a love hate relationship with ’street art’. Half of me loves seeing people think outside of the spray can by creating witty cartoons, wheat pastes, sculptures, and other creative things on the street. The other half gets angered thinking about a 22 year old Pratt student from Wisconsin sneaking out of his college dorm to wheat paste a worthless image over classic NYC graffiti.
I guess with good comes bad.
While browsing through the good ol’ internet, I came across Joshua Allen Harris’s inflatable art. He’s created a “whole zoo of creatures”, and has been installing them all around NYC.
All of the animals are constructed from plastic bags and then attached to metal sidewalk grates. The gates are no longer just blowing up girls dresses when a train goes by, they’re also blowing up Joshua’s animals.
I guess street art ain’t so bad…
