Every once and a while I see a poster that I really like. If you can’t guess already, I really like this one. It’s simple and to the point, not to mention slick and very graphic. It is a  silkscreened edition printed on ‘Plike Black’ 140 GSM paper from GF Smith.
You can purchase your very [...]

If you didn’t make it to the 711 Gallery opening, then you need to stop slacking. The gallery is three floors, has a winding staircase, skylights, and 20 foot (maybe more, I forgot to measure) ceilings. The openings may be crowded and sweaty, but it’s okay, there are plenty of beautiful art pieces, hot girls, [...]

‘Sticker cars’ is a phrase you may not be too familiar with, but if you live in New Orleans it’s very possible you do. It’s a new breed of “customization” that’s hitting the car scene hard down south. You make the car “your own” by getting it vinyl wrapped, or, stickered.

Finding your favorite shows online and getting your DVD’s onto your computer can sound complicated, but fear not, for many applications and a little reading can get you far.

Here’s how to get DVD’s onto your computer and iPod:
Thanks to some great programmers, this has been made very simple. The first step to getting your DVD’s onto your iPod is by download the correct software. The program I suggest is called HandBrake, which can “rip” your DVD’s directly onto your computer in many different formats. Lets get started on how to do that with this program…

1. Insert the DVD you would like to use (make sure to quit out of any program that may be trying to play the DVD)

2. Launch HandBrake. This should bring up a screen asking you to select a file.

3. Simply click the DVD folder and hit open.

4. Handbrake will then proceed to scan the DVD so give it a minute to get everything together.

You should now see something like this:

I’ve chosen to tip ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, well, because it somehow seemed appropriate.

5. Dvd’s come with extras, intro’s, multiple languages, along with many other options, so your going to have to go in find the movie. The program usually does pick the right tracks to rip but it is not always correct, so pay no attention to the Title tab that you see.

6. Ask yourself the following questions: Is HandBrake displaying the correct length of the movie? If it is, your in luck. If not, select the title which fits your movie length wise the best. There is usually not much confusion with movies on which to choose (the longest one.)

7. Now what makes this program so great is that it has presets for what your encoding options are. For example, if you are for example trying to get your movie onto your iPod, simply click the given preset. iPod’s read Mpeg-4 format video with AAC format audio.

8. After you have chosen your presets hit the start button and let HandBrake go to work! You should see the progression on the bottom of the window. It took about 1 hour and 30 mins too encode all of 2001, but the amount of time it takes depends on what format your are converting the video to/quality/etc. and of course, the power of your computer.

9. Done! Now you should have the video on your computer. The file was about 1 gig and quality was great even though it was still formatted or the iPod. Even though you can now watch the video in iTunes, I still use VLC Player which plays just about every video format. I highly recommend it.

9. To get the file loaded into iTunes simply go to File : Add to Library and select the file

10. Now when you scroll through the movies section of your iTunes you should see your movie, but wait there is no cover art. That is quickly remedied by right clicking on the file and going to get info. Now google a picture of your favorite scene and save the image to your computer. Now goto the artwork section and select that image. You should now see that image as you scroll through the rest of your movies in iTunes.

Next week: Putting videos from the internet on to your iPod and where to get those videos.
