“Now that Mozilla’s locked down Firefox 3’s final feature set with Friday’s push of release candidate 1, it’s official: while Firefox 3 boasts some great new features like a smart address bar and better bookmarks manager, the best reason to upgrade will be for the performance improvements. Firefox 3 is noticeably faster and more stable than Firefox 2 to the casual user and Mozilla engineers have numbers that show it will be the fastest browser on the market.”
Prior to it’s release I was a ‘Safari only’ type of guy. When people would ask me if I preferred Firefox or Safari, I wouldn’t just say Safari, but I would actually make a point to mention why I didn’t like Firefox: “it’s slow, it’s always asking for updates, it feels ‘heavy’, Safari is simply better.”
While reading on QBN the other day, I saw a series people mentioning the update (I didn’t know at the time that there had been one). For the most part they were giving it a pretty solid review, some of the good feedback even came from people like me, Safari people. I gave it a try, and have since removed Safari from my dock.
Give it a Firefox 3 a download. You’ll notice the difference. If you’re still skeptical, give the full review a read, and then download it.
