Some are saying, “Show of the Year. Show of the Decade. Possibly Show of the Century.” Bansky is calling his show the “Cans Festival”, and is encouraging visitors to contribute their own graffiti starting Saturday. He has already brought together many artists like Faile, Blek, among others. It’s not a complete free for-all, as there are some rules, as seen on the festival’s website: “Painting outside the designated area may well result in prosecution.”
“I’m hoping we can transform a dark forgotten filth pit into an oasis of beautiful art - in a dark forgotten filth pit,” says Banksy (Times of London)
Some of the work includes security cameras growing from a tree, a hooded figure cutting itself with a knife, the pope pushing down his fluttering robes in an imitation of Marilyn Monroe, and my personal favorite… a worker spraying over ancient cave drawings.
